Seven days and nights in the desert, starting tomorrow, with my old friend Marty, his old Dodge van stuffed with carpeting to cover the dust in the playa, mounds of rebar, PVC pipe and tarps to construct a shade structure, tents, 50 gallons of water, some cans of soup, power bars, a hope and a prayer.
Currently in Circus Circus Casino/Hotel in Reno, lost $6 in some high stakes gambling, made the mistake of ordering Salisbury Steak in a casino restaurant, and enjoyed a shot of tequila though it was served by a somewhat scary bartender.
May this trip into the wilderness of my soul be a blessing.
Have fun!

Hi El,
A yawn brought you to mind on Sunday. I was getting ready to stand up at the end of a Sweat Your Prayers class in NYC. Pow, and the yawn caught up with me and rolled over my consciouness, and in its deepening and softening moment – flash – there in memory you were – yawning too, as you had near the end of the class there, where we met last year.
Good yawn! So refreshing!
Yuck, I just had flashbacks of Salisbury Steak from the cafeteria from high school.
I’ve seen a few random mentions of Burning Man on the web the past few years but I don’t know what it is. It seems to me that a large crowd gathers around to watch the burning of a giant straw man? Kind of like in the movie The Wicker Man? Except there’s music and stuff, like food and drinks?
Whatever it is, I hope you enjoyed yourself.
